It was awesome to see, in scripture, the power and authority of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in V.3 of chapter 12! In the Dispensation of Grace, only a true born again believer can say Jesus is Lord by the Holy Spirit. As we saw in Philippians 2:9-11, ultimately, everyone will declare that Jesus is Lord!
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
I love how the Word confirms over and over, the triune God is active in the lives of men. In Genesis 1:26-27, man was created in the image (spiritual) and likeness (physical) of God the Father (Spirit), God the Son (Body), and God the Holy Spirit (Soul).
1 John 5:7: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ — John 1:1-3), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
In V.4-6, the Trinity is clearly marked and their responsibilities in the Church, the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6: Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
We will look at the gifts of the Spirit in V.9-11 in our next study.
