1 Corinthians Week 103

We have finished our study of verse 1-9, and relationship of men and women / husbands and wives in church ministry.  We walked through all the scriptures on the board, from Paul and Peter describing the relationship and responsibility of husbands and wives and parents and children, even employees and employers, understanding that the statement on the board — “The health of the church reflects the health of the home.”

These scriptures give us the directives, the admonition concerning how we are to treat each other, and minister to one another.  Titus 2:1-8 helps us understand that our opportunities for ministry never cease. When our children are at home, our main focus of ministry is to our spouse and children, then to our church family, and the world.  When our children are no longer in the home, and we have more time to minister in the church, we, as the mature men and women, mentor the young men and women to be the believer God has called them to be.  Our opportunities are endless for ministry!

Titus 2:1-8: But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
