1 Corinthians Week 104

1 Corinthians 11:10 proved to be quite the doctrinal study concerning angels. We saw in verses 8 & 9 that God created man & woman for each other, to minister to each other and to be fruitful and replenish the earth. Woman was created for man! She was not created for angels! Verse 10 takes us back to Genesis 6:1-4 where the sons of God, the angels that followed Lucifer in his attempted overthrow of the throne of God, saw the daughters of men, and took wives of all that they saw and had children by them. This is clearly the violation of God’s creative order. Angels were never to have sexual relations with humankind. This is the “strange flesh” issue that is spoken of by Peter and Jude.

1 Peter 3:18-20: For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Jude 1:6-7: And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

We read the condemnation of Lucifer in Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ezekiel 28:14-17. Isaiah 14:15 clearly states that He will be brought down to hell. Satan has not been to hell, yet, because he is the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Ephesians 2:1-3). Revelation 20:2-3 is the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah 14. He will be bound with a chain for a 1,000 years and cast into the bottomless pit. Matthew 25:41 states that everlasting fire is prepared for the devil and his angels.

Angels are watching, so let us all submit ourselves to God’s divine order of authority and leadership.
