(The class recording ends at the 49:30 mark. I forgot to turn the recorder off.)
It took a while, but the study of 1 Corinthians 14 was an incredibly awesome study on very pertinent doctrine concerning how the assembly is to operate. These last verses, dealing with the role of men and women in the public assembly are critical, because God’s divine order of authority, established in Genesis, and reaffirmed in 1 Corinthians 11:3 is simple to understand — But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
We know that our salvation standing before God is all equal! No one’s salvation is more valuable than anyone else’s. Galatians 3:28: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. But, in our current state, in the local church, in the assembly, there is a divine order that is given.
The statement, “The Bible is not difficult to understand; it is difficult to believe.” In this age of feminism and the open attacks on God’s divine order, women are more and more taking leadership roles meant for men. As we discussed in class, men are all too willing to abdicate their role as spiritual leader in the home, and in the church. Women are all too willing to take on roles meant for the husband / father. We must do everything we can to prevent this from happening. Just because the world operates on a system that is in direct oppposition to God’s divine order. Ezekiel 14:3-7 gives us a stark warning about coming before God with idols in our heart, refuges of worldly thought and actions, asking God to bless our efforts to serve him. This is a great danger. Let us believe God’s Word, and seek to apply our hearts to know Him and understand the wonderful order He has given concerning the local assembly.
Next week, we will begin our study of 1 Corinthians 15!
