Today was another class of self-evaluation through the lens of scripture. Paul’s letter to the carnal Corinthian church, and the issues he is dealing with are very real and pertinent with our Laodicean Age in which we live. It is very sobering when we realize how powerful 1 John 2:15-17 is even in the lives of Christians who have been saved for many years.
The lust of the flesh is the desire for passion.
The lust of the eyes is the desire to acquire possessions.
The pride of life is the desire for power and authority.
This three-pronged attack by Satan is relentless, and it begins with pride. We all fail, but we need to remember: We must not allow the failures of our past to be a stumbling block to our future!
