1 Corinthians Week 42

                           (Repentance must precede restoration!)
1 Corinthians 5 is one of those painful, difficult chapters of scripture, because it makes us deal with uncomfortable issues.  Our nature is to be non-confrontational when it comes to other people’s lives.  When it comes to the purity of the church, mature believers have a responsibility to obey the Word of God, and lovingly seek to restore a brother or sister who has allowed sin to make shipwreck of their lives.
Galatians 6:1-3; Ephesians 2:1-3, 4:26-32; 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15

Remember, the situation in this chapter is very public and reported, and there is an unrepentant hardened heart to the Holy Spirit.  The church is commanded to turn this member over to Satan for the destruction of his body, that his spirit might be saved / redeemed at the Day of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15 and 1 Corinthians 9:25-27 speak of loss of reward when we allow a lack of temperance through the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life to lord over us and prevent the “new man” from fulfilling his mission and ministry.  1 John 2:15-17

Please follow the information on the board, reading the scriptures as you listen to the recording concerning this delicate, but direct subject of restoring a fellow believer into fellowship.  Obedience in all things, including the difficult issue of known sin in our fellowship, and how to restore to fellowship.
