1 Corinthians Week 48

This is our 48th week in our study of 1 Corinthians.  We covered a lot of ground today, comparing the sons of God in the Old Testament, which were angels present at the creation (Job 38:4-7), and then followed Lucifer in his attempted overthrow of the throne of God (Revelation 12:3).  After that moment in eternity past, every mention of the sons of God was speaking of fallen angels.  In the New Testament, every mention of the sons of God is speaking of born again Christians in this age of grace
(John 1:11-13; 1 John 3:1-3).

Understanding what happened to the sons of God before the flood in Genesis 6:1-6 is critical to understanding what Christ was doing those 3 days and nights after his crucifixion before he resurrected from the dead.  1 Peter 3:18-20; 2 Peter 2:4-10; Jude 6-9,14-16
Those angels that left the first estate – their eternal angelic position and power, even in their fallen, rebellious state, being part of the government of Satan (Ephesians 6:12) and went after strange flesh (human women), became flesh and blood.  The comparison between what they did sexually to what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah, and the “strange flesh” issue of homosexuality (Genesis 18 – 19) helps us to get a proper perspective of the judgment of these angels.  We barely scratched the surface of these scriptures, but it was fun to be part of the study today!  Next week we will look at the “and also after that” statement of Genesis 6:4, and scriptures that explain it.
