Today was quite the adventure, digging into Israel’s history of disobedience and rebellion with Moses in the wilderness. As we continue in 1 Corinthians 10, we read in V.5 one of the most telling verses in scripture, concerning God’s relationship with his chosen people — But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will looking into the warnings Paul gives to the Church, by giving us examples of rebellion in Israel that we are to stay away from. The examples of rebellion, idolatry, and immorality was so destructive to Israel, it is poster child of a failed relationship to God, which cost everyone over the age of 20 their lives in the wilderness.
It is quite a journey that Paul paints for us, as well as walking through the actual writings of Moses, where we learn the lessons of faith and obedience, as well as disobedience. God wants everyone who names the name of Christ to live in victory!
