It was great to finish our look at the importance of the pure bloodline in the lineage of Christ, with Judah and Tamar. Judah’s disobedience in marrying a Canaanite caused God to get involved and kill two of his sons in Genesis 38. Then the issue of Deuteronomy 23:2 and its connection to Matthew 1:3-6 and the lineage of Christ and the 10 generations between Pharez and David. 1 Samuel 15 & 16 give us the rejection of Saul and the anointing of David as king help us to understand God’s dealings with man in the Dispensation of Law, as compared to today in the Dispensation of Grace.
God makes it clear, from Genesis 9 all the way to 1 Samuel 16, that He was going to keep any Canaanite out of the lineage, because of the curse. Let us all remember to thank God that we have a wonderful Father / Son relationship with our heavenly Father.
