RDTW week 180 Battle of the old man and the new man.

Last week, we studied how Jesus exposed the heart attitudes of the Pharisees who accused him and the disciples of eating with unwashed hands in Matthew 15 and Mark 7. Jesus lists seven deadly attributes in Matthew and 13 in Mark. We also examined Paul's confession of his struggles with the old man and sin in Romans 7.

Today, we walked through Galatians 5:13-26 (18 works of the flesh and 9 manifestations of the fruit of the Spirit), Ephesians 4: 22-32 (put off the old man and put on the new man), Philippians 4:4-9 (Rejoice, pray, receive God's peace, think on 8 specific uplifting things about others and life in general, and follow Paul's example), and Colossians 3:1-17 (Keep our affection heavenward, put to death the 12 activities of the old Adam flesh nature that we are so comfortable living with, put on the 7 attributes of new man who we are in Christ, letting the peace of God rule in our hearts, being thankful, letting the word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom, living our lives as to the Lord and not unto men with thanksgiving).

Romans 6:1-2: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Paul took the warnings of Jesus and expanded gave us incredible instruction on how to live victorious lives in this broken sin cursed world. It is our lifelong endeavor to be conformed to Christ through daily putting off the old man with his deeds and putting on the new man who is fashioned after Christ.
