Today, we were able to look at Paul’s admonition to Timothy and Titus, to steer clear of discussing fables, needless genealogies, foolish questions, which cause cause strife.
2 Timothy 2:23-26: But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Jesus encountered people who were seeking answers, as well as people who questioned his authority. He could immediately determine whether a person was seeking an answer or was questioning. The local church of today still has these two groups within the body. There are some who exist in the body just to stir up strife and cause disunity.
Titus 3:8-11: This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
Over the next three weeks, before the Christmas holiday break, we will go over the four enemies of the truth – Apostasy, Blasphemy (already covered), Heresy, and False Religion. We will see how Confirmation Bias is the greatest danger to being able to rightly divide the word of truth. Today’s Christianity is rife with this dangerous perspective.
Remember, the prophetic program concerning Israel is in “timeout” during this dispensation of the grace of God, aka the mystery program. The prophetic program will resume when the mystery period closes at the rapture of the Church Age saints.
