We continued our study of the Lord's Prayer this morning, looking at the devotional application of this kingdom prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. We focused on the phrase “thy will be done.” In this dispensation of the grace of God, we are given seven specific commands concerning the will of God. God's will is a spiritual journey into Christlikeness. It is all about being who we should be in Christ. God's will revealed: Be Saved – 2 Peter 3:9 Be Thankful – 1 Thess 5:17-18 Be Submissive – 1 Peter 2:13-17 Be Studious – Romans 12:1-2 Be Holy – 1 Thess 4:3-7 Be Obedient – Ephesians 6:5-8 Be Conformed to Christ – Romans 8:28-30 Peter gives us another view of what it means to grow in the nurture an admonition of the Lord. 2 Peter 1:5-8: And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. My dear family, we are given an incredible opportunity to glorify our Lord through simply obeying these simple truths! The judgment seat of Christ reveals our eternal reward for our pursuit of being conformed to Christ. The reward we receive will be revealed when we appear with Him in glory. 1 Corinthians 15:41: There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. Colossians 3:1-4: If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Next week, we will examine Matthew 6:14-15 dealing with the principles of kingdom forgiveness, and fasting.
