Revelation 2 The Crowns Part 1

What a wonderful study this morning concerning the first two crowns / rewards that God has offered to we who are in the church age / age of grace.  The Crown of Life (Rev 2:10) is promised to all who give their lives for the gospel’s sake.  James 1:2 – 12 help us to see that the scope is larger than being martyred.  It includes overcoming the temptations concerning false doctrine, and standing firmly on the truth of scripture.

The Crown of Glory is offered to all who faithfully minister the Word – moms & dads, Bible teachers, etc.  1 Peter 5:1-4 and Ephesians 4:11-16 are clear that pastors are certainly part of the group who are eligible, but not the only ones who are eligible.  We will look at the final crowns next Sunday — righteousness, incorruptible, and rejoicing.

Ephesus – “Fully Purposed”. Remember, Repent, Repeat.
Smyrna – “Myrrh – Bitterness & Death” – DO NOT FEAR — myrrh was one of the three gifts brought to Jesus by the wisemen, signifying that he came to die.
