We are slowly, but surely making our way through the first three chapters of Ephesians which contain an incredible wealth of doctrine for us to retain and ponder. Today, I fully planned to complete chapter three, but, alas, we have to conclude the class before we concluded the chapter. The mystery of the body of Christ being filled with Jews and Gentiles, being fellow heirs of that which is to come – the kingdom, is quite revolutionary in the first century. As we saw in V.8, Paul has delivered to us the unsearchable (incomprehensible / unknowable?) riches of Christ. Paul has given to us who are saved that which the unsaved world cannot understand. It takes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the heavenly instructor to give us the power of belief in what is written. Only after we believe do we begin the journey of understanding. During our Bible study, I was asked if there is anyone who is not written in the Book of Life. I said the only group I am sure of whose names were never written in the book are those who worship the beast take his mark, or number, or name. Revelation 13:8: And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 17:8: The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. Remember, it is God the Father who bestows his grace and mercy upon us, gifting us with faith, the faith of the Son of God who loved us and gave himself for us.
