“The Bible does not tell us all we want to know, but it does tell us all we need to know.” This is especially true when it comes to eternity future. The plight of the fearful and unbelieving and abominable, and all liars is very clear. They have their part in the lake of fire. Much is said about eternity future for the saints, but it does not spell out all that we want to know. I believe this to be for good reason on God's part.
Revelation 21 – 22 gives us much information about the New Jerusalem and how it is laid out and the gates, and what it will look like. God the Father and God the Son will be the light of the city. No artificial light will be needed, nor will light from the Sun or Moon will be needed. It is the dwelling place of the Lamb's wife who is described in Revelation 19:7-8.
Revelation is primarily a book of prophecy, so it is for our learning concerning God's dealing with Israel, not to the Body of Christ. Keeping that understanding in perspective will help us navigate through some difficult waters doctrinally.
Next Sunday, we will be looking at the Body of Christ / Bride of Christ issue as pertaining to the rapture, and the kingdom, and eternity future.
